Impairment suspected in northwest valley crash that left one dead, five injured

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a crash in the northwest valley that happened Sunday, Sept. 22, just before 10:00 a.m. and left one woman dead and five others injured.

The multi-vehicle crash occurred at W. Cheyenne Avenue and Soft Breezes Drive, near Buffalo Drive, and involved four pedestrians.

Evidence collected at the scene suggests that a Tesla failed to stop at a red light and struck a Honda SUV. The collision caused debris to strike a Chrysler Van and caused the Tesla to rotate toward the southeast corner of the intersection and strike four pedestrians sitting on a low retaining wall.

Occupants of the Honda were taken to UMC Trauma and the front passenger, a 62-year-old woman, died at the hospital.

The driver of the Tesla, 32-year-old Gabriel Haas, was transported to UMC Trauma for injuries, and he is being investigated for impairment.

The pedestrians were also transported to UMC Trauma for further medical intervention with one, 28-year-old male Donaciano Falcon-Cruz, suffering critical injuries.

The other three have minor or no injuries.
