Police shut down the intersection of Hualapai Way and Russell Road Monday after a crash involving a car and motorcycle, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.
Officers were called to the scene at 1:53 p.m. They found the motorcyclist lying on the ground.
According to a police statement, a 2012 Toyota Highlander was traveling south on Hualapai, turning left onto Russell, when the 2006 Yamaha FZ6-S was traveling north. The front of the motorcycle hit the Toyota, throwing the rider from the bike.
Police said the motorcyclist, a 17-year-old boy, was taken to University Medical Center Trauma with critical injuries.
The driver of the Highlander, 52-year-old Ralph Priola, remained at the scene, police said. Impairment was not suspected as a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation, police said.
