Deaths on Nevada roads take slight dip in July

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Nevada saw fewer deaths on the roads last month compared to June and the same month a year ago, per new figures from state officials.

There were 19 deadly crashes and 21 fatalities on state roadways in July, according to the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety.

That's down from June, when there were 25 deadly crashes and 26 deaths.

This July's numbers are also down from the same month a year ago, when there were 22 deadly crashes and 23 deaths.

So far this year, traffic fatalities in Nevada are down slightly than they were a year ago. There have been 153 deaths on state roads in 2020, compared to 157 over the same period in 2019.

Deaths are also down in Clark County, with 87 fatalities reported through July, down from 104 reported over the same period a year ago.

Pedestrian deaths remained static statewide, at 43 fatalities in 2020 and 2019. Cyclist deaths in Nevada have gone down as well, from five in 2019 to just one so far this year.

The Traffic Safety office notes that 2020 data is preliminary and might not include final reports.
