LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Two children have been taken to a hospital after they were hit by a school bus Friday morning, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.
Two 12-year-olds were walking in a crosswalk when they were hit by a school bus at Eastern Avenue and Oquendo Road, south of Russell Road just after 8 a.m, Lt. Jeff Clark said.
One child's injuries are described as minor while said the other has critical head injuries. Both were taken to Sunrise Hospital. No other injuries have been reported.
The school bus driver passed field sobriety tests and was the only person onboard the bus, according to Clark. Police later said the driver did not see the children in the crosswalk and was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
Southbound Eastern remained closed during the investigation. Clark County School District police also responded to the scene to assist.
