Practice Focus and Early Career

Steve Yeager’s practice focuses on personal injury and premises liability. After graduating from Cornell Law School in Ithaca, New York, Steve began his legal career as an associate at Bryan Cave, LLP in Phoenix, Arizona, where he specialized in class action, commercial litigation, and insurance defense.

Public Defense and Trial Experience

Steve relocated to Las Vegas and joined the Clark County Public Defender’s Office, where he was ultimately promoted to Chief Deputy Public Defender.

Steve handled thousands of criminal cases over his 8 years at the Public Defender’s Office, including dozens of jury and bench trials. Steve currently serves in the Nevada Legislature, representing Assembly District 9 (southwest Las Vegas) in the State Assembly. He was first elected in 2016 and was re-elected in 2018 and 2020. He has served as the Speaker Pro Tem since 2019 and has chaired the Assembly Judiciary Committee since 2017.

Legislative Leadership and Recognition

Steve was named Assembly Legislator of the Year in 2021 by the Nevada League of Cities. Steve is active in the Las Vegas community. He is a member of the Clark County Bar Association, the Nevada Justice Association, which named him the Consumer Advocate of the Year in 2021, and the Nevada Attorneys for Criminal Justice, which awarded him the group’s Dedicated Service Award in 2016.

 Community Involvement

Steve is also an avid runner, hiker, and biker. From 2017 to 2019, Steve participated in the annual Yeager Donut Challenge, where he ran a 5k while eating as many donuts as possible. Those efforts collectively raised nearly $80,000 for the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation
