Deadly auto-pedestrian crash under investigation in northwest valley

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A pedestrian has died after they were struck by a car Wednesday morning in the northwest valley, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.

The collision was reported just before 4:20 a.m. at Rancho Drive and Rainbow Boulevard, said Lt. David Gordon with LVMPD.

The early investigation indicates the pedestrian walked into the travel lanes when they were hit by an oncoming car, Gordon said.

That pedestrian was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead.

The driver of the car stayed at the scene, according to Gordon, and police do not believe impairment was a factor.

Northbound Rancho is closed north of Rainbow for the investigation by LVMPD's fatal detail team. More details are expected to be released later Wednesday.
