Police say the driver of the southbound car left before officers arrived, and it's unclear if impairment is a factor.

A passenger in the southbound car was also taken to a hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Police initially said that passenger was in the eastbound car.

LVMPD's fatal detail team is responding to investigate. No other details were immediately available.
