Las Vegas man seriously injured in hit-and-run crash on California freeway

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A Las Vegas man suffered serious injuries when he was struck in a hit-and-run crash last week on a California freeway, according to law enforcement.

The vehicle-pedestrian collision was reported just before 11:15 p.m. on Interstate 5 north of Coalinga Friday, Jan. 3, California Highway Patrol said in an incident report.

Officers responded and learned an unknown car was heading north on I-5 when the driver turned onto the shoulder and hit Sebastian Bejar, 26, as he was changing a tire, according to CHP.

The car kept going, and Bejar was taken to a hospital in Fresno via helicopter with injuries described as major.

The crash is under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Coalinga Area CHP office.
