Motorcyclist critically injured in crash near Sahara, Durango

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A motorcyclist was critically injured when he collided with a car in the west valley early Thursday evening, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.

The crash was reported around 5:55 p.m. at Sahara Avenue and Lake Sahara Drive, just west of Durango Drive, police said in a statement.

Investigators learned a 56-year-old California man was riding a 2006 Harley Davidson Road King east on Sahara Avenue, approaching a green light at Lake Sahara.

A 2006 Lexus GS was heading west on Sahara and turned left on a flashing yellow, traveling into the path of the motorcycle.

Police say the motorcycle crashed into the side of the Lexus, and the rider was thrown from the bike. He was taken to UMC, where he was listed in critical condition.

The driver of the Lexus stayed at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment, according to LVMPD.
