Police investigate fatal motorcycle crash in northeast valley

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal motorcycle-involved crash in the northeast valley that occurred just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Officers responded to a crash at Lake Mead Boulevard and Sandy Lane, near Pecos Road, involving two vehicles and a motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased on scene.

In a statement released early Monday morning, LVMPD said a 2009 Nissan Altima was turning onto westbound Lake Mead from a private drive.

A 2017 Kawasaki EX650 was heading east on Lake Mead, with a 2003 Ford F150 a short distance behind it. The Kawasaki hit the Nissan's driver door, the driver of the Ford told police.

The rider of the Kawaski, identified as a 25-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Nissan was knocked unconscious as a result of the crash, according to LVMPD.

Two adults and two children were inside the Nissan at the time, and they were taken to UMC for treatment of injuries described as minor. The driver of the Ford did not report any injuries.

Impairment is not suspected.
