18-year-old killed in northwest Las Vegas valley rollover crash

An 18-year-old woman has died after a pickup truck rolled over and crashed Sunday night in the northwest valley, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.

Officers got a report of a crash just after 10:15 p.m. on a dirt access road near Shaumber Road, between Tropical and Centennial parkways, LVMPD said in a statement.

The investigation determined a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was heading south on the access road, with four people inside the truck and two people riding in the truck bed,

The truck lost control and rolled down an embankment, throwing the two people in the truck bed from the vehicle, according to LVMPD.

Firefighters responded and provided emergency aid to those two people, along with a third person inside the car.

All three were taken to UMC, and one passenger, identified as an 18-year-old from Las Vegas, died from her injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet did not show any signs of impairment, and she stayed at the scene, LVMPD said.
