Woman hit, killed by car while running near Eastern, Desert Inn

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A 39-year-old woman was hit and killed by a car late Monday night while she was running in the central Las Vegas valley, according to authorities.

The crash was reported just before 10:50 p.m. on Desert Inn Road near Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

LVMPD says their initial investigation indicates the woman and another pedestrian were running north across Desert Inn Road, east of Topaz Road.

A 2001 Volkswagen Passat was heading west on Desert Inn and hit the woman after swerving to miss the other pedestrian, according to police.

The woman was taken to Sunrise Hospital where she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Volkswagen, identified as a 71-year-old man, stayed at the scene, and police say he did not show any signs of impairment.

This collision was reported less than two hours after another vehicle-pedestrian crash at Craig Road and Jadestone Avenue that killed a 51-year-old man.
