Suspects flee from police, cause fiery three-vehicle crash in east valley

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Two suspects fled from a traffic stop Wednesday evening and caused a fiery three-vehicle crash in the east valley.

Officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department tried to conduct a vehicle stop near Harmon Avenue and Boulder Highway around 7:00 p.m.

The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed on Boulder Highway and struck two trucks. As it struck the second truck, both vehicles caught fire, according to Lt. Hernandez.

News 3 viewer Brandon Luna caught the incident on camera.

Two suspects were taken into custody and transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. Jail records identified one of the suspects as 27-year-old Alberto Velasquez III, with charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and reckless driving.

They later discovered that the suspect vehicle was reported stolen.

No other injuries were reported.
